This toy example is based on synthetic test data for a subsurface model with
one homogeneous layer on top of a halfspace. The model and its properties is
discussed by Forbriger (2001, Figure III.11 on page 88). Two versions of the
subsurface model are provide. One has the original Q values of 100 and is
indicated by 'HQ'. The other has smaller Q values (indicated by 'LQ' in file
names) which is more appropriate for field data simulation.
Vertical component data for a vertical single force (hammer blow) is computed
and gaussian white noise at an appropriate level is added. Other than in field
data, noise is completely uncorrelated. In field data noise to significant
degree consists of travelling wave with high correlation between different
reveivers. Noise is added here only for the purpose to demonstrate the effect
of tapering.
